About Partial Subtitle Shifting

The Partial Subtitle Shifter allows you to apply different time shifts to specific ranges of your subtitle file. This is useful when different parts of your video have different sync issues, or when you need to make gradual timing adjustments throughout the video.

Define multiple time segments, each with its own shift amount:

  • Start/End Time: Define the time range for each segment
  • Shift Amount: How much to shift subtitles in that range
  • Time Unit: Choose between seconds or milliseconds for precision
Use Cases
  • Gradual Drift: When subtitles start in sync but gradually drift out of sync
  • Multiple Scenes: Different scenes or chapters have different timing issues
  • Commercial Breaks: Adjust for inserted or removed commercial breaks
  • Fine-tuning: Make precise adjustments to specific problematic sections
  • Multi-part Videos: Handle timing differences between video segments
How to Use
  1. Upload your subtitle files using the file selector above
  2. Define time segments by setting start and end times
  3. Set the shift amount for each segment (positive to delay, negative to advance)
  4. Choose your preferred time unit for each segment
  5. Add more segments as needed using the "Add Segment" button
  6. Review the segment summary to verify your settings
  7. Click "Process Files" to apply the partial shifts
  8. Download your adjusted subtitle files
Tips for Effective Partial Shifting
  • Watch your video and note the timestamps where sync issues occur
  • Start with broader segments and refine with smaller ones if needed
  • Overlapping segments will apply cumulative shifts
  • Use seconds for general adjustments, milliseconds for fine-tuning
  • Test with a small portion of your subtitle file first
  • Keep segments organized chronologically for easier management
